Yes, but read this post carefully before joining these programs.

So what are “Paid to Click” or a “Paid to Read” programs? Well, they are online business models that directs massive amount of traffic from people looking for an easy way to earn cash at home. Advertisers pays to display ads on these program sites and part of the revenue collected by the sites goes towards the members of the program who will view the advertisements. It’s rather easy for members to earn. You don’t really have to think. Just click. Some members with laptops will sit in front of their TVs and make their TV viewing time a little more productive. Better yet, many of these “Paid to Click” programs also have a “referral program” built in. Members can earn extra income from referring friend and family to the site.

Sounds like a good deal, huh?

Don’t get excited just yet. I’ve tried many of these programs and I can tell you, they are not worth the time or the effort. In fact, they are more trouble than they are worth.

These programs have been linked to fraudulent activity that has cost advertisers considerably. The whole purpose for an advertiser to get involved in these programs is to direct traffic to their sites. The more people visiting their sites, the more potential customers they get. But when there are both members and website owners creating “ bot accounts” to automate the whole process of directing traffic, then there are no real people looking at ads. PTC owners are also known to create fake advertisements to cover up their fraudulent activity of selling fake referrals. So, you are most likely going to end up dealing with fraudsters and scammers. Any program that is willing to rip off advertisers is bound to rip off their members at some point. So consider the fact that many of the PTC close down and then later, reopened with a new name and new website theme. Same scammers and fraudsters running things but they will ditch their members of their old program site, refuse to payout members who had a balance before the shutdown, and move on to scam more people (and sometimes the exact same people who didn’t learn their lessons the first time) with a new site.

But let’s say you do get paid. How much can you expect? Well, you get paid about 0.01cent per click. Plus, there is usually a timer that forces you to view 1 ad at a time and requires that you look at each ad for 15-60 seconds before you can move on and click on the next ad. Let’s say that there is a program paying you 0.01cent per ad and you have to look at each ad for 30 seconds. That’s 2 clicks a minute and the most you can earn would be at a rate of $1.20 per hour. In that time, you would have clicked on 120 ads to earn that kind of cash.

Now, most smart people would have done the math and recognized that they could greatly improve their earning potential by registering for multiple PTC programs. Afterwards, members could then have them all running at the same time and then go from one program to the next , clicking on ads without ever having to wait the full 30 seconds to click on the next ad. If we take the above senario and multiply the earning potential by 30 (30 different PTC account) your earning potential shoots up to $36/h. Not bad for sitting at home, in front of your couch but you must develop good timing and a steady pace while flip through all those ads. In 1 hour, you would be flipping through 3600 ads. Now that’s a lot of clicking! Careful, you could develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

You might be thinking, “Wow, $36/h is good money for doing simple, repetitive, mindless work.” But you must keep in mind that this is the perfect scenario and not reality. I must stress again, that in the scenario above, you would be clicking through 3600 ads in 1 hour. We are not even taking into consideration that most web pages will not load instantly, the fact that you will have to drag the cursor around the place to click, the fact that most programs only allow you to click on 5-25 ads per day and the fact that most programs have a minimum payout that must be reached in order to request earning. Payout minimums are usually between $5-$25. So, chances are high that it could take several months for you to earn enough to bring some money home.

Are these PTC programs still looking good to you?

Well, you should also note that many of the jerks that own these PTC sites imbed or allow malware and spyware that can get installed on your computer with every click. So, if you are earning big with these programs, you are also going to be paying big in repair costs when you computer crashes. Even most anti-virus software will only be able to offer limited protection. It’s almost guaranteed that you will catch some kind of bug on your computer, like it or not.

Now, if you plan on referring friends and family to these PTC programs, you would actually be doing them a disservice and putting their computers at risk for infection. What kind of friend would do such a thing?

PTC programs are, at worst, a scam and at best, a waste of time. And if you plan of trying the PTR (paid to read emails) programs then be careful and don’t register an email address that you want to keep spam free.

I gave you fair warning. But if you still want to try PTC,
